There are several reasons why homeowners call a carpet cleaner. But the most important reason to have your carpet cleaned is to maintain a healthy environment for your family. By the same token the physical condition of the carpet is of equal importance, not only to preserve your investment but to keep it looking ship shape. A quality carpet installer who can get rid of those unsightly wrinkles and repair any damage should also be in your contact list.
Carpet is not like a slab of steel. It is a textile product. Similar to your clothing, it can expand and contract. It can also wrinkle and tear, which can create a tripping hazard. Here is what your four legged furry family member can do to carpet. This was at the edge of a well used family room, butting up to a tiled flooring. Tripping hazard - gone. And the patch blended in real nice. Kudos to the installer. lol.
While there are different carpet cleaning systems the best way, by far, to maintain your carpet is to hire a qualified cleaner who employs truck mounted hot water extraction (some call it steam cleaning). The vacuum power is tops and do not let anyone tell you that you don't need hot water to clean your carpet. Heat cleans!
Highland Case Study
Most of the carpet in this house was way overdue for cleaning so it took a real effort to clean it to my satisfaction. I am demanding enough on myself to know if I am happy with the job my customer will be as well. This is a small hallway that leads to a bathroom and 3 bedrooms. It was subjected to highly concentrated traffic. I am pleased to report that my customer was elated with the result.
Here was an interesting situation. This home had no family room so the living room took a beating. We first cleaned under the furniture then replaced it with plastic tabs or styrofoam blocks under the legs to prevent any dye bleeding to the damp carpet. Then we tended to the open areas. My customer was happy with the result but I felt we might be able to make it even better. So we cleaned the main traffic lane a second time and it did make a difference. My reward was knowing my customer appreciated our extra effort. Her becoming a regular customer was a bonus.
